KUALA LUMPUR, Aug. 24 — A Bangladeshi man has been detained after allegedly molesting a woman while travelling on an LRT train in Kuala Lumpur.
The incident reportedly happened at around 8.30am on Aug. 19, when the woman was travelling from Wangsa Maju towards Pasar Seni. She reportedly noticed the suspect before the alleged incident took place at Setiawangsa LRT station.
Following the incident, the woman lodged a police report and an investigation was launched under Section 354 of the Penal Code, which covers assault or criminal force with intent to outrage a person’s modesty.
The suspect was later detained by Prasarana Auxiliary Police at Pasar Seni LRT Station at about 11.30am on Friday before being handed over to the Ampang Jaya district police for further investigation.
Police have obtained a four-day remand order, running from Saturday to Tuesday, to assist with the investigation. The case remains under investigation.
