Malaysian track cycling star Datuk Mohd Azizulhasni Awang will continue his journey towards the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games (LA28) after receiving the green light from the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) and the National Sports Council (MSN).
The decision was an emotional moment for Azizulhasni, who shed tears of relief after several days of uncertainty over his future. In a social media post, the Olympic medallist expressed his gratitude to Malaysians who continued to support him, as well as KBS and MSN for backing his ambition.
KBS and MSN had earlier confirmed their support for Azizulhasni as one of Malaysia’s track cyclists tasked with collecting qualification points for LA28. The experienced cyclist remains determined to represent the country once again on the Olympic stage.
Azizulhasni is one of Malaysia’s most successful Olympians, having won bronze at Rio 2016 and silver at Tokyo 2020. With the latest decision, his pursuit of another Olympic appearance — and potentially another medal for Malaysia — officially continues.
