A student suspected of stabbing a schoolmate at a secondary school in Banting is expected to be brought to the Telok Datok Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday for a remand application.
Kuala Langat district police chief Superintendent Mohd Akmalrizal Radzi said the remand request will be made under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code. The case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder.
Police said the offence carries a jail sentence of up to 10 years and a fine if convicted.
Earlier reports said the 15-year-old victim suffered injuries to the body and shoulder after allegedly being stabbed in the incident. The suspect, who is also 15, was reportedly absent from school for several months and had been receiving health treatment.
The suspect is believed to have entered the school through the main entrance before the incident took place. However, police said further details on how the incident happened have not been confirmed.
Videos that went viral on social media earlier showed a teenage girl dressed in black walking around the school area while holding a knife.
