Global oil prices climbed to their highest level in a month after renewed tensions involving Iran raised concerns over potential disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important oil shipping routes.
Brent crude rose above US$86 per barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) also posted gains as traders reacted to fears that escalating conflict could affect global energy supplies.
The latest increase follows renewed military tensions in the region, which have heightened concerns over the security of oil tankers passing through the strategic waterway. Any disruption in the Strait of Hormuz could significantly impact global oil exports and push energy prices even higher.
Analysts believe oil prices may remain elevated if the geopolitical situation worsens, with markets closely monitoring developments in the Middle East over the coming days.
