KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian Immigration Department has arrested an employer and a permanent resident suspected of operating an illegal syndicate that supplied undocumented foreign workers to local businesses.
The arrests were made during a special enforcement operation targeting the illegal employment of foreign workers. Authorities believe the suspects acted as intermediaries by recruiting and providing undocumented migrants to employers without valid work permits.
Immigration officers also detained several foreign nationals who were found to be working illegally during the operation. Investigations revealed that some of the workers had either overstayed their visas or did not possess valid employment documents.
The department said the operation is part of its ongoing efforts to combat the illegal hiring of foreign workers and dismantle syndicates exploiting immigration laws. Those found guilty could face legal action under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and other relevant legislation.
The Immigration Department urged employers to comply with all legal procedures when hiring foreign workers, warning that strict enforcement action will continue against those who violate immigration regulations.
