The jersey worn by Brazilian football legend Pelé during the 1958 FIFA World Cup final has been sold at auction for US$4.9 million (approximately RM20.8 million), making it one of the most valuable football memorabilia ever sold.
Pelé wore the iconic jersey when Brazil defeated Sweden 5-2 in the final, securing the country’s first-ever World Cup title. At just 17 years old, Pelé scored two goals in the match, becoming the youngest player to score in a World Cup final.
The historic jersey attracted strong interest from collectors due to its significance in football history and Pelé’s legacy as one of the sport’s greatest players.
