Defending Malaysia’s sovereignty is not solely the responsibility of the armed forces but a shared duty of every citizen, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said. He stressed that national security can only be strengthened through unity, patriotism, and close cooperation between the government, security agencies, and the public.
Khaled noted that Malaysia continues to face increasingly complex security challenges, making it essential to enhance the country’s defence capabilities while protecting its territorial integrity and national interests.
He also reaffirmed Malaysia’s commitment to defending its sovereign rights in the South China Sea, including strengthening the nation’s presence at Pulau Layang-Layang and improving surveillance capabilities to safeguard its maritime borders.
The minister emphasised that preserving peace, stability, and sovereignty requires the collective commitment of all Malaysians to ensure the nation’s security for future generations.
