Malaysia’s top men’s doubles pair Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik are one win away from reclaiming the World Championship title after booking their place in the final in New Delhi.
The world No. 4 pair produced a composed performance in the semi-final, defeating world No. 1 Kim Won Ho and Seo Seung Jae of South Korea in straight games, 21-17, 21-18, in just 43 minutes.
The victory sends Aaron and Wooi Yik into their second World Championship final, following their historic appearance in 2022. That year, they became the first Malaysian men’s doubles pair to win the world title.
Awaiting them in the final will be either China’s Liang Wei Keng-Wang Chang or Taiwan’s Lee Jhe Huei-Yang Po Hsuan, who will meet in the other semi-final.
Malaysia last won a World Championship title in the previous edition through mixed doubles pair Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei. Now, Aaron and Wooi Yik have the opportunity to add another world crown to Malaysia’s badminton record. 🇲🇾🏸
