GEORGE TOWN: The Penang Road Transport Department (JPJ) seized 11 luxury vehicles, including a Lamborghini Huracan worth more than RM1 million, during an enforcement operation carried out at several locations across the state on September 3.
According to JPJ Penang, the vehicles were found to have expired Motor Vehicle Licences (LKM) and no valid insurance coverage. The failure to renew road tax reportedly resulted in more than RM20,000 in lost government revenue.
The Lamborghini drew particular attention after checks found that its road tax had expired since June. JPJ said the annual road tax for a high-performance luxury vehicle of this type can reach around RM12,000.
JPJ stressed that the value or status of a vehicle does not exempt its owner from complying with the law, adding that enforcement under the Road Transport Act 1987 will be carried out fairly and without compromise.
