Barisan Nasional (BN) has retained control of the Johor state government after winning 48 of the 56 State Assembly seats in the 16th Johor state election.
The result gives BN a stronger mandate than in 2022, when it won 40 seats, and restores its two-thirds majority in the state assembly. Pakatan Harapan (PH) secured the remaining eight seats, while Perikatan Nasional (PN), MUDA, Parti Bersama Malaysia, PSM, ASLI and all independent candidates failed to win any seats.
Johor BN chairman Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi described the outcome as a strong mandate from the people to continue serving the state and addressing issues affecting the people of Johor. The Election Commission announced the official results in the early hours of Sunday after all 56 constituencies were confirmed.
