SHAH ALAM: Four friends were each fined RM2,900 by the Magistrate’s Court after being convicted of taking part in an armed riot involving machetes last month.
The four men, aged between 24 and 39, were accused of participating in the incident at Jalan Bukit Kemuning, Taman Sri Muda, at about 11am on August 13.
Magistrate Wan Noora Nisa Ngadirin ordered each of them to serve five months in prison if they failed to pay the fine. All four paid the RM2,900 fine. They were charged under Section 148 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum five-year jail term, a fine, or both upon conviction.
Police previously reported that a local man was seriously injured after allegedly being attacked with a machete during a fight near a petrol station in the area on the same day.
