PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) expects several arrests to be made in stages as early as next week as investigations continue into alleged misappropriation, abuse of power and corruption involving subsidiaries of the Federal Land Development Authority (FELDA).
MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman said 12 individuals have so far been called to assist investigations. They include members of the FELDA Investment Corporation (FIC) board, FIC officers, a valuer, representatives from legal firms, and officers from government agencies.
The investigation is being carried out under OPS FELLA, which focuses on FELDA and FIC investment transactions and asset acquisitions between 2010 and 2020. Seven investigation papers have been opened, including six new cases initiated on August 24.
Among the matters being examined are purchases and investments allegedly made above market valuation, including several properties and hotels in Malaysia and overseas. The total amount of suspected corruption involved has yet to be determined as investigations are still at an early stage.
MACC has urged the public to avoid speculation and allow investigators to carry out the process fairly and professionally.
