KUALA LUMPUR, Aug. 3 — Malaysia delivered its best Commonwealth Games performance since 2010 at the Glasgow 2026 Games, despite sending one of its smallest contingents to the competition.
Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh praised the athletes for exceeding expectations, saying the team’s achievements reflected the quality, determination and fighting spirit of Malaysian sportsmen and women. She noted that the results proved success is not solely determined by the size of a contingent, but by thorough preparation and strong performances on the field of play.
Malaysia’s impressive medal haul highlighted the country’s continued progress across several sports, with athletes producing consistent performances against top international competitors.
Hannah also expressed appreciation to the coaches, officials and support staff whose efforts contributed to the team’s success. She said the Glasgow campaign would serve as motivation to further strengthen athlete development as Malaysia prepares for future major international competitions.
