The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) is enhancing its border security operations by deploying drones and artificial intelligence (AI) to improve surveillance and combat cross-border crimes more effectively.
The initiative, led by the Internal Security and Public Order Department (KDNKA), is aimed at increasing the efficiency of monitoring Malaysia’s land and maritime borders. The use of AI-powered systems and drones will enable security personnel to detect suspicious activities more quickly and respond to threats in real time.
According to PDRM, integrating advanced technology into border operations will strengthen efforts to curb smuggling, illegal immigration, human trafficking, and other transnational crimes. The move also supports the force’s ongoing modernisation agenda to enhance national security capabilities.
PDRM stressed that adopting innovative technologies is essential to addressing increasingly sophisticated security challenges while ensuring Malaysia’s borders remain safe and well protected.
