KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will provide an explanation in the Dewan Negara tomorrow regarding the reported losses involving the Retirement Fund Incorporated (KWAP) and its investment in Indonesian aquaculture technology company eFishery.
Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, said the government is committed to being transparent about the matter and will present the relevant facts to the Senate.
The issue has attracted public attention following reports that KWAP may have suffered losses of around RM200 million linked to its investment in eFishery, which has come under scrutiny over alleged financial reporting irregularities.
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has already launched an investigation to determine whether there were any elements of corruption, abuse of power or other criminal offences related to the investment.
The government has assured the public that the matter will be addressed openly, while investigations by the relevant authorities continue.
