The highly anticipated return of Puteri Gunung Ledang The Musical (PGL The Musical) has received an overwhelming response, with all tickets selling out within just two hours after sales opened to the public.

Demand remained exceptionally strong even after tickets were gone, with more than 22,000 fans still in the online waiting queue at 10pm. The response reflects the enduring popularity of the iconic Malaysian production, nearly two decades after it first captivated audiences.

Director and original co-creator Puan Sri Tiara Jacquelina said the overwhelming support exceeded the production team’s expectations. She believes the response shows that Malaysian audiences continue to appreciate homegrown stories, talent and creativity, while also demonstrating the potential of the country’s performing arts industry.

The 2026 production marks the musical’s return to the stage after almost 20 years. Performances are scheduled from 31 October to 15 November 2026 at the Jeffrey Cheah Performing Arts Centre (JCPAC), Sunway Square. The production team is currently focused on rehearsals and delivering a show worthy of the strong public response.

While no additional performances have been officially announced, Tiara revealed that early discussions have begun regarding the possibility of taking the musical to other locations after the current season, with interest reportedly coming from several states.
