The Malaysian National Cycling Federation (PKBM) has appealed to the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) and the National Sports Council (NSC) to consider bringing track cycling legend Datuk Azizulhasni Awang back into the Road to Gold (RTG) programme.
PKBM believes Azizulhasni remains one of Malaysia’s most valuable sporting assets and says his recent performances show that he is still capable of competing at the highest level. The federation hopes his experience and proven track record will be recognised as Malaysia prepares for future international competitions.
The federation also stressed that having Azizulhasni in the RTG programme would provide him with continued access to world-class training, sports science, and performance support, while also benefiting the development of younger cyclists through his leadership and experience.
The final decision on his return to the RTG programme rests with KBS and the NSC. PKBM remains optimistic that the relevant authorities will give due consideration to the proposal as Malaysia continues its preparations for major international sporting events.
