SAN FRANCISCO: Nvidia has agreed to acquire AI developer platform Hugging Face for approximately US$12.93 billion, Nvidia founder and CEO Jensen Huang announced on Thursday.
Huang said the companies will work together to expand Hugging Face, strengthen its infrastructure and make artificial intelligence more accessible to developers and institutions worldwide. Hugging Face will continue operating as an open platform for the AI ecosystem.
Developers will not be required to use Nvidia computing resources when building or deploying through Hugging Face. The platform will also continue supporting open-source and open-weight models from different developers, cloud providers and hardware accelerators.
Hugging Face currently serves more than 18 million developers, researchers and creators, hosting over three million models, 500,000 datasets and one million applications. More than 200,000 companies also use the platform for AI development and deployment.
