KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s experimental men’s doubles pairing Soh Wooi Yik and Aaron Tai made an impressive debut by upsetting China’s world No. 10 pair Chen Bo Yang-Liu Yi in the second round of the China Masters 2026 in Shenzhen.
Despite playing together for the first time, Wooi Yik-Aaron secured a convincing 21-13, 21-18 straight-game victory in just 40 minutes, earning their place in the quarter-finals at Shenzhen Arena.
The Malaysian pair will next face another Chinese combination, He Ji Ting-Ren Xiang Yu, as they battle for a place in the semi-finals.
Malaysia also enjoyed success elsewhere in the tournament, with Nur Mohd Azriyn Ayub-Tan Wee Kiong and Tee Kai Wun-Yap Roy progressing to the men’s doubles quarter-finals. In mixed doubles, Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai Jemie and Hoo Pang Ron-Lai Pei Jing also advanced to the last eight.
