SHAH ALAM: Seven Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) students remain under medical treatment and observation following a heat-related incident during a rugged endurance event at the Komander Kesatria Endurance Challenge (KKEC) 2026 at UiTM’s Jengka Campus in Pahang.
One student, Liya Zafirah Muhammad from the Perak branch, remains in the intensive care unit at Hospital Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah (HoSHAS) in Temerloh, while Meor Aqil Wildan from the Perlis branch is also under close observation at the same hospital. Five other students are being treated at Hospital Jengka.
Following the incident, UiTM cancelled all KKEC 2026 competitions involving outdoor activities that were scheduled for September 6, saying student safety, health and welfare would remain its priority. The university is also reviewing its safety procedures, health screening, risk management and emergency response arrangements.
The incident followed the death of 21-year-old Fadhlan Fakhry Solana Mohd Fellimal, a participant from UiTM Negeri Sembilan’s Seremban Campus. He reportedly collapsed during the event after experiencing breathing difficulties, was later admitted to intensive care, and was pronounced dead at about 2pm on September 5.
