Defending Premier League champions Arsenal maintained their perfect start to the season with a 2-0 away victory over Sunderland, securing their fourth consecutive league win. The Gunners created several opportunities in the first half but were unable to find the breakthrough before half-time.
Sunderland were handed a golden opportunity to take the lead in the 54th minute when Ezri Konsa brought down Dan Ballard, resulting in a penalty. However, Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya produced a crucial save, diving to his left to deny Enzo Le Fee, whose effort was pushed onto the post.
Just two minutes later, Arsenal punished the hosts. Bruno Guimaraes, receiving the ball from Declan Rice around 25 yards from goal, fired a powerful dipping strike that hit the underside of the crossbar before finding the net. It marked Guimaraes’ first goal for Arsenal.
Sunderland continued to threaten late in the match, with Nordi Mukiele coming close and forcing another important save from Raya. But their hopes of a comeback suffered a final blow when Reinildo Mandava was sent off after bringing down Bukayo Saka inside the penalty area during stoppage time.
Bukayo Saka converted the resulting penalty in the 97th minute, sealing Arsenal’s 2-0 victory with the final kick of the match. The result leaves Arsenal with a perfect four wins from their opening four Premier League matches, while Sunderland remain on four points.
