KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian badminton legend Datuk Lee Chong Wei believes the country’s current players must show greater determination and a stronger winning mentality if they want to achieve better results at the highest level.
Chong Wei said Malaysian shuttlers have the ability and talent, but stressed that success also depends on hunger, discipline and the desire to fight for every point, especially in major international tournaments.
He pointed out that players must be mentally prepared to handle pressure and maintain consistency against the world’s best. According to Chong Wei, technical skills alone are not enough without the determination to push through difficult moments during matches.
The former world No. 1 also hopes Malaysia’s current generation of players can raise their standards and continue working hard to restore the country’s strong reputation in international badminton.
