The Ministry of Health (MOH) has advised the public to be cautious about health claims linked to “hydrogen inhalers” or hydrogen machines, particularly claims that suggest they can provide various health benefits.
MOH said it is aware of the sale and promotion of these devices, including claims that they can fight free radicals and reduce inflammation in the body. However, the ministry stressed that health benefits should not be accepted without proper scientific evidence or approval from the relevant authorities.
Under the Medical Device Act 2012 (Act 737), medical devices sold or used in Malaysia must be registered with the Medical Device Authority (MDA). The sale, distribution or advertising of unregistered medical devices is an offence and may result in enforcement action.
MOH also urged the public, especially senior citizens, to be careful of sales tactics that rely on emotional pressure or promises of treatment. Consumers are encouraged to check a device’s registration status through the MDA’s official website before making a purchase.
For health-related concerns, the ministry advised people to seek guidance from registered medical practitioners rather than relying on unverified claims about health products.
