KUALA LUMPUR, July 21 — Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) will introduce an improved KTM Komuter timetable for the Northern Sector beginning this Friday, aimed at meeting rising passenger demand and providing a more comfortable travel experience, particularly during peak hours.
The enhancement includes six additional daily train services—two on the Padang Besar–Butterworth–Padang Besar route and four on the Ipoh–Butterworth–Ipoh route. This will increase the total number of daily Komuter services in the Northern Sector from 56 to 62.
KTMB also announced that waiting times during the morning rush on the Ipoh–Butterworth route will be significantly reduced, with intervals shortened to 55 minutes, compared with more than two hours previously. The revised schedule will also extend operating hours to better accommodate commuters.
The railway operator said the service improvements reflect its ongoing commitment to delivering a more reliable, efficient, and convenient public transport experience for passengers across the northern region.
