SEREMBAN, July 21 — Barisan Nasional (BN) Chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has called on all media organisations to provide fair and balanced coverage to every candidate contesting in the Negeri Sembilan state election.
He said he had received feedback claiming that candidates from certain parties were being given limited media exposure or were allegedly being “blacked out” during the campaign period. According to Ahmad Zahid, all candidates should have an equal opportunity to present their messages to voters, regardless of their political affiliation.
He stressed that fair reporting is essential in ensuring a healthy democratic process, allowing the public to make informed decisions ahead of polling day. He also urged media organisations to uphold professionalism by giving all contesting parties reasonable access to coverage throughout the campaign.
The Deputy Prime Minister made the remarks while attending an event in Negeri Sembilan, adding that balanced media reporting would help maintain public confidence in the electoral process.
The Negeri Sembilan state election campaign is currently underway, with candidates from various political parties competing for the state’s 36 legislative seats before voters head to the polls.
