Helicopter operations to the site of the Ulu Baram tragedy in Sarawak have not been permitted due to poor visibility caused by haze, according to police. Astro Awani report
Authorities said the unfavourable weather and visibility conditions have affected efforts to access the remote location by air. Ground teams are continuing their operations while waiting for conditions to improve sufficiently for helicopter services to resume safely.
The incident involved a BO-105 helicopter carrying five people near Long Lellang in Ulu Baram. Those on board comprised a pilot and four Ministry of Health personnel — a medical officer, an assistant medical officer and two nurses.
Search and rescue efforts remain focused on reaching the crash location and obtaining further information on those involved, with authorities stressing that air operations will only proceed when conditions are considered safe.
