The possibility of Bergson da Silva representing Malaysia is gaining attention after the JDT striker completed his five-year residency period in February.
FAM secretary-general Datuk Noor Azman Rahman said the association is currently completing the required documentation. He added that, if the process is completed properly, Bergson could potentially be eligible to represent Malaysia in the upcoming FIFA ASEAN Cup.
Bergson’s potential inclusion would add firepower to the national team, with the Brazilian-born striker having scored 200 goals for JDT and 132 goals in the Malaysian Super League, making him the league’s all-time leading scorer.
For now, the focus remains on completing the documentation before any final decision is made.
