KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has launched an investigation into the alleged RM200 million investment loss suffered by the Retirement Fund Incorporated (KWAP) involving Indonesian aquaculture technology company eFishery.
MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki confirmed that the investigation is underway following reports of possible irregularities linked to the investment. He said the probe is being carried out in cooperation with the relevant authorities and focuses on whether any elements of corruption, abuse of power or criminal misconduct were involved.
Azam stressed that the investigation remains at an early stage and declined to reveal further details to avoid disrupting the inquiry.
Earlier reports indicated that eFishery had come under scrutiny over alleged financial reporting issues, raising concerns among investors, including KWAP, which had invested in the company.
MACC said it is committed to conducting a thorough and transparent investigation and will take appropriate action if any offences under the law are uncovered.
